The SCREAM QUEENS pilot impressed, here's my thoughts!

Okay, so FOX's new horror-comedy SCREAM QUEENS premiered last night.  Heard of it?  I thought so.  So you know the basic premise.  A sorority on campus where horrible things just seem to happen.

Enter Emma Roberts.  She's good at playing a bitch.  And if you thought she was bitchy in AMERICAN HORROR STORY: COVEN, then you haven't seen anything yet.  She's on her A-game here.  She "accidentally" kills the house maid in a deep fryer.  Yeah.

Oh, and Jamie Lee Curtis!  She's awesome and she rocks the hell out of her role here.  She's the dean of the university.  She also happens to blackmail male students on academic probation into sex.  She's a cougar -- and a vixen.  And she rules.

From what I've gathered so far, there's a new freshman on campus who might be trying to overtake Emma Robert's character, who is the top-dog (Kappa Queen) in the sorority house.

There's a mysterious Red Devil on campus whose been a presence in the house for awhile now...but no one really knows about him.  He killed Ariana Grande's character in hysterical fashion.

Finally, the episode ends with the Red Devil running over a deaf girl's head with a lawn mower.  Needless to say, this show is far from politically correct -- and that's a GOOD thing!

I'm going to keep this short, and I realize this write-up is all over the place, but oh well.  I dug the first episode of SCREAM QUEENS.  I won't be doing a weekly write-up like I did with STALKER and MTV's SCREAM, though.  I'm just going to sit back and enjoy this -- and this is just my two-cents on the pilot.

I also realize that I'm leaving out so many plot details in this so-called write-up, but eh, I'm lazy.  And it's Wednesday, not that it really matters.  Just watch the show.  If you're a Ryan Murphy fan then you'll 'get' it.

What'd you think of the pilot episode?

  1. I enjoyed it as well. Never watched Glee, wasn't a fan of American Horror Story (Only seen the first few eps of Season 1, never continued), but I was into this. A lot of my Twitter feed was hating it or just out of disdain for Ryan Murphy, deciding that they were not going to like it going in (Yes, he made that dumb "I invented horror-comedy" statement, but get over it and judge the show for what it is). Some people I don't think understand that these people are SUPPOSED to be awful and ones you're not rooting for...you're SUPPOSED to be despising them and laughing at them.

I agree about Emma Roberts, and having Jamie Lee Curtis here is their Ace. Nasim Pedrad was a nice touch to the cast as well. I'm pretty sure I'm down for the full season.

    1. Yeah, even if this ends up being a one-season-and-done deal, then so be it. I'll enjoy it while it lasts.
